Thinking About Buying a Truck Camper? Real Feedback from a Two-Year Owner

"Over the past two years, when we take the truck camper out, the trips range from a month or so to three or four months at a time — a long time on the road..." Recently, a long-time truck camper customer brought his rig back to the factory for servicing. If you're still on the fence about buying one or choosing a truck platform, here's what owner Mr. Zhang has to say.

Mr. Zhang and his wife bought their truck camper for the same reason most people do — they've always loved traveling and road trips. They used to take road trips in their regular car, but when they had more free time, they figured a truck camper would be even more convenient and give them more freedom on the road.

Mr. Zhang said: "We love road trips. In the past, self-driving always felt like just passing through — we'd stay in hotels constantly. With a truck camper, we can sleep in the vehicle, stay in places we like, and live our daily life right in the camper — it feels like actually living, not just traveling. It's a completely different experience. Of course, truck camper life involves managing water and electricity, so you do need to plan ahead when traveling."

They also pointed out that buying a truck camper is like buying a "bare shell" — you need to find a "builder" to do the build-out. The design and materials should meet safety standards, with safety being the top priority, and then it should meet your personal needs.

Regarding their two years of truck camper life: "When we travel with the truck camper, we basically live in it full-time," Mr. Zhang said.

Although they chose a compact truck camper with limited interior space, the smaller vehicle size makes it easier to get around, and for just the two of them, it's perfectly adequate.

Since they spend so much time living in the camper, they're very satisfied with the materials used — especially the paneling. Even at the factory, they never noticed any pungent chemical smells, and they've had no discomfort during use. They're quite happy with the environmental and health standards of the materials.

In terms of the layout, the main thing is that everything is very intuitive to use — they've never felt any inconvenience caused by the floor plan.

He's also a big fan of the diesel heater. On a trip last year, they encountered snow in Colorado — it was freezing cold. They turned on the diesel heater, and within 5 to 10 minutes, the interior warmed up to 20°C (68°F). The comfort level of the truck camper was excellent.

As for their two years of truck camper travel, the load-carrying capacity and engine power have been great, especially on their trip to Alaska last year — even on remote backroads, the power was more than adequate. At just 440 pounds, the lightweight design means long-distance off-road travel is no burden at all.

All in all, since buying the truck camper, their trips — whether a month or three to four months long — have been smooth sailing, with the vehicle faithfully accompanying them on the road.
What stands out most in their memory is how smooth and convenient traveling with the truck camper has been — whether heading to national parks or dispersed camping on BLM land, they've never felt restricted.

He also noted that truck camper life really tests your adaptability. If you're thinking about buying one, you need to consider two things: first, whether truck camper life actually suits you, and second, whether you genuinely have a need for one.

Finally, Mr. Zhang said that based on two years of overall quality and user experience, he's very satisfied and impressed. He also spoke highly of the factory's after-sales service — responsive to every question, helpful with every request.
